Hello Drug Clubbers.

Throughout my life, in work or socially I've been in environments where people are using drugs for all sorts of reasons,  sometimes it's felt like everyone's at it.

The sad thing is, damage done to friends or personal near misses could have been avoided if we lived in a society better informed about drugs.

Talking about drugs shouldn't be a taboo. so why is it?

I'm so excited to bring the conversation you at Drug Club.

A bit about me.

Michael is a psychotherapist, educator, writer, actor and theatre director.

He is fascinated by drugs and the complex meanings they hold in people’s lives and cultures—how using them, or choosing not to, can position someone as an outsider or grant them a sense of belonging.

Earlier in his career, Michael trained in experimental theatre, working across the UK and Europe. He toured original productions and performed in experimental short films and immersive art events. Since 2020, his work has focused on youth homelessness services, youth drug and alcohol services, youth justice, schools, education, and therapeutic settings.

Michael is a registered member of the BACP and holds an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. His final‑year dissertation explored therapists’ perspectives on recreational drug use. He has supported hundreds of young people, adults and families to navigate significant challenges in their lives, with drugs often present as both friend and foe.

Alongside his therapeutic practice, Michael delivers training and education for young people and professionals around drugs, harm reduction and stigma. He remains committed to changing the status quo for people affected by drugs.

He’s your guy at Drug Club.
